1. Who is responsible

ESCA TECH APP (No. BN285090326), Accra, Ghana, is the data controller for the ESCA Tech app, the ESCA Electricians app, escatechapp.com and escatechafrica.com. We are registered with the Data Protection Commission of Ghana, certificate No. 0007223, under the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843). Privacy contact: admin@escatechafrica.com or 0552471234.

2. What we collect

  • Everyone: name, phone number, email (if you sign in with email or Google), PIN (stored only in protected, scrambled form), and a profile photo if you add one.
  • Customers: Mobile Money number and full name for payment verification; delivery and job addresses; orders, jobs, quotes and uploaded lists; reviews; the shops you follow.
  • Electricians and riders: Ghana Card or other ID, licences and certificates, driving licence and vehicle details (riders), work photos, earnings and payout details.
  • Shop owners: shop details, business documents, products and photos, sales and payout details.
  • From your device: location when you use location features and during an active job or delivery; device type and system; app activity such as screens opened, time on a screen, errors and crashes; notification token.
  • Messages: chats in the app and messages you send us.
  • Searches: the words you search for in the apps and websites.
  • Other people: the name, phone and location of a person you book a service or delivery for.

We do not collect your full card number or Mobile Money PIN.

3. Why we use it

  • To run your account and provide jobs, orders, payments, deliveries and payouts (needed for our contract with you).
  • To verify identity and licences and to prevent fraud and misuse (our legitimate interest and legal duties).
  • To send service messages by SMS, WhatsApp, push notification and email (needed to provide the service).
  • To send up to two promotional notifications a day about products (our legitimate interest; you can stop them, section 7).
  • To improve the apps and fix faults (our legitimate interest).
  • To meet tax, accounting and other legal duties.

4. Who sees it

  • Electrician and customer: each sees the other’s name and phone, and the electrician sees the job address and details.
  • Shop: sees the buyer’s name, phone, delivery address and the order.
  • Rider: sees the pickup and delivery addresses, the receiver’s name and phone, and the order (no payment details).
  • Shops in general: see what customers search for, as words only, never who searched.
  • Public: reviews, shop pages, product listings and provider profiles shown in the apps.
  • Service providers working for us under contract: Google (Firebase and Google Cloud hosting, sign-in, notifications, crash reports, analytics, maps and places), Ecobank PayWith and Mobile Money networks (payments), SMS providers in Ghana, and Meta (WhatsApp messages).
  • Authorities: when the law or a court requires it, or to protect someone’s safety or prevent fraud.
  • A buyer of the business: if ESCA is sold or merged, with the same protection.

We do not sell personal data.

5. Data outside Ghana

Our providers, mainly Google, store data on servers outside Ghana, including in the United States and Europe. We use providers that protect data under contract and recognised security standards.

6. How long we keep it

While your account is open. After you delete your account we delete or anonymise your data within 30 days, except: payment, order and payout records, kept as long as Ghana tax and financial law requires (up to 7 years); and records needed for a dispute, fraud case or legal claim, until it ends.

7. Your rights

You may ask us to:

  • give you a copy of your data;
  • correct it;
  • delete it, or delete your account (in the app or by email);
  • stop using it for direct marketing (or turn notifications off in your phone settings);
  • stop or limit other processing, or review a decision made only by a computer.

We answer within 21 days. You may complain to the Data Protection Commission of Ghana (dataprotection.org.gh). If you live in the UK or European Union you may also complain to your local data protection authority.

8. Security

We use encrypted connections, access rules that let each person see only their own data, and protected storage. No system is fully secure. If a data breach is likely to affect you, we will tell you and the Data Protection Commission as Act 843 requires.

9. Children

The Platform is not for anyone under 18. If we learn we hold a child’s data, we delete it.

10. Changes

We will tell you in the app before an important change to this policy applies.
